Learning to care for the prairies
Learning to care
for the seagrass meadows

The next generation of ocean guardians starts in school
Seagrass meadows are one of the most important ecosystems on the planet — and most people have never heard of them. The RESTORESEAGRASS educational program aims to change that by bringing real science into schools and fostering a generation that is informed, curious, and committed to the ocean.
A program for all grade levels
The educational program covers all grade levels and combines teaching resources with hands-on activities, immersive experiences, and citizen science. The idea is simple: the earlier children learn about the prairies, the stronger their commitment to protecting them will be.
School Presentations
(available now)
30-minute interactive sessions with a hands-on component that bring the grasslands into the classroom. Students observe live plants, examine structures under a microscope, and discover the plankton that lives in the grasslands. Available through the CCMAR Blue Calendar.
In-depth workshops
(in development)
Sessions lasting about 2 hours that combine scientific observation, virtual reality immersions in the prairies, and activities tailored to each age group—from educational games to role-playing exercises. Coming soon.
Art and digital storytelling
(starting in 2027)
For schools in the Ria Formosa area, stop-motion and digital storytelling workshops on grassland conservation. A way to combine creativity, communication, and an emotional connection to the ecosystem.
Seagrass meadows challenge
(starting in 2027)
A fun, gamified activity designed for science fairs, school events, and community initiatives. Flexible and adaptable—we can come to your school or host the event at our location.
Citizen science
(starting in 2027)
High school students participate in real-world research projects — from estimating blue carbon to monitoring the health of grasslands. Real science, done by real young people.
